When writing a youth donation request letter, you need to make sure that your letter stands out. Since you’re likely writing the letter to fellow parents at your child’s school, it’s likely that your letter recipients will receive similar fundraiser letters. Make sure that you create the letter using your own unique writing style and appeal to the greater good of the school or local community when requesting a donation. Make your letter personal, emotional, and present a problem followed by a solution that your organization will offer. Here is a youth sample donation request letter:
I want to thank you for your unwavering support for the children in Help Our Schools. Through our semi-annual fundraising events, parent and teacher conferences, sport programs, and after school clubs, you have shown your commitment to helping your child—and their peers—have access to the best education possible. Since we have partnered with your child’s school at Help Our Schools, your amazing commitment is duly recognized.
As you may or may not know, Help Our School hosts a fundraiser during the first month of the school year to help pay for events and supplies that are not covered in the state funded school budget. Things like music and art clubs, the annual science fair, field trips, choir concerts, and more. As an organization, we have come to question that effectiveness and safety issues that door to door sales present. So, we are changing our strategy this year.
When considering alternative fundraising options at our board meeting, someone suggested that we simply write a letter to send to the parents at our schools to share information about the amount of money that we are trying to raise this year. We thought that if we could rally the parents and they would be willing to donate a small amount of money, then we might be able to raise the funds that way and then successfully implement these worthwhile school programs.
We would like to request that our parents each donate $20 for three months so that we will be able to make our goal in keeping these valuable art and science programs in our schools. We have considered many options, and we feel that getting parents directly involved makes the most sense on many levels. We want to raise awareness of the importance of arts and sciences in our schools. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
