How to Write a Youth Donation Request Letter

So you are part of a youth group fundraising team, but you don’t know where to start. Starting your fundraising campaign by writing a youth donation request letter can be a great way to raise money for a school, community, or church youth group organization. Oftentimes, parents of students in the youth group are the most ideal people to send a donation request letter to. But, friends, family, and local businesses can also be great people to approach when requesting donations for your youth group.

When sitting down to create a donation request letter, make sure that you have a good plan in place for who you’re going to circulate the letters to and how you’re going to commit to following up with the recipients. Get your mailing list in order and make sure that you give people a really good reason to donate to your cause. When beginning your mail campaign, below is a youth sample donation request letter that you can use as a guideline for your fundraising letter.

Dear Friend of Our Little League:

We are writing to ask if you will consider a donation in support of the 2014

Season of Our Little League.

Our Little League (“OLL”) is celebrating its 50th season in Houston. More than 250 families are participating this year. Player divisions range from our beginners T-Ball to our high-school students in the Senior division. OLL also continues to have its Blast Off team, which is comprised of children with physical disabilities. It gives those children the chance to play baseball against other teams from around the county.

This year’s events will help OLL continue to raise funds towards various projects including:

· New scoreboard at John Smith Field, $3,000

· Bleachers at John Smith Field, $7,500

· Batting Cages for all of our divisions, $13,000.

A generous donation guarantees your company’s name in our website and e-mail announcements to all of our families, as well as name recognition at the events. Our overall goal is to get donations from the local community in the form of a products, services or gift certificates and gift cards. Not only will your donation contribute to OLL, but it is also tax deductible. Our Federal Tax ID is: XX-30770XX.

I have enclosed a donation form, to be completed and sent in with your donation. If you have questions or if you would like your donation and promotional information picked up, please contact (name, email, and phone).

Your support in this endeavor is greatly appreciated. OLL and its families thank you in advance for your contributions. Your support will help us keep our proud tradition thriving by assuring our players have uniforms, equipment, and keeping our fields maintained. Thanks for letting our children play baseball!
