02bHow to Write Fundraising Letters for Sports Teams

When it comes to fundraising, it’s all about who you know. So, if you’re in charge of the fundraising efforts of your child’s sports team, make sure to leverage all of your contacts, get in touch with fellow parents, and try to get them all involved as much as possible. Find local businesses that the families of your child’s sports team regularly patronize and send them a fundraising letter to see if they will consider supporting your team. Making sure that you have an effective letter will help your team go a long way. Here is a great example of how to write fundraising letters for sports teams:

Mr. Bob Parker

Dear Mr. Parker,

My name is Stephanie Smith, president of the Westbrook High Ice Hockey Team. This is our third year as a club in the school district. During this time we have progressed from a few interested players to a legitimate club ice hockey team that is capable of competing against schools like Bean Highschool and Thomson High School to name a few. This year we are committed to transitioning from local to inter school district play. We are very proud to represent this school district as the only Ice Hockey team.

We are currently attempting to raise some much-needed funds to help train and compete against other high schools within our region. As you can imagine with the cost of travel, equipment rentals, and ice rentals, we have a high costs for a non-varsity sport, and our budget is still very small. We are hosting a fundraiser this January to raise money and awareness about our team. We would like to raffle off a few day passes or even season passes to your ski area as well as some sports events tickets that have been donated to our cause.

In return for your sponsorship, at a level of sponsorship that you are comfortable with, we would place an advertising banner to your ski area in a prominent place while we are hosting this fundraiser for several weeks. You will also be mentioned several times in our newsletter and on our social media pages and website. We will also include your logo in all of our flyers. We would also be willing to include your logo on our jerseys. I would welcome the chance to speak with you on the phone about this opportunity further.

It is clear through your student ski passes that you have made a commitment to the young people in this area. Thank you very much for your consideration and I hope that we can find a way to collaborate.

Sincerely,
