Sample Fundraising Letter to a Restaurant

Getting local restaurants and cafes involved in your fundraiser can be a great way to raise money for your organization. Local restaurants often like to get involved with a charitable organization within their community as a means of generating positive publicity and building a reputation of as being a ‘responsible’ organization. From community sports teams, church fundraisers, or contributions to local schools, approaching your favorite local eatery can be a wonderful way to seek out donations for a cause. When trying to raise money for your cause through restaurants, it’s a great idea to write a fundraising letter and then follow up by phone and in person. Here is a great sample fundraising letter to a restaurant:

Dear {Owner or Head Chef},

My husband and I love your restaurant, Chez Noir. It’s one of those unique places that we reserve for date nights and out of town guests and we recently celebrated our wedding anniversary there. The food is delectable and the atmosphere is so innovative.

I wanted to approach you about possibly becoming involved with my organization, Give Food To Families. This is a non-profit organization that works to raise money for a food pantry in the Greater Houston area. You may have heard of us—our organization does great work and we feed more than 200 families a month.

Through a generous donation—of either money or food—you could help hundreds of Houston families who are in great need. Your monthly donation of (insert amount) could offer these impoverished Houston families the chance to feed their children and get a fresh start through our job placement program. If you are unable to donate funds, we can work with you in other ways, such as our discount food program which allows us to purchase your unneeded food and supplies at a discounted rate.

I want to thank you personally for your time in reading this letter. I will follow up with you by phone and in person in the next two weeks, but if you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me at (phone number).
